I love my Vita! It's a trusty little gadget that's very practical if you're a hardcore gamer. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be as popular as I was hoping for it to be. I'm not sure why because the battery life is awesome, the screen is really responsive, and its got a solid library of games worth playing. The biggest issues that you'll more than likely run into are memory (as stated by many) and connectivity issues from time to time. If you can overcome those, then I think you'll find it a good investment.

As far as games go there's a lot of amazing JRPGs obviously. I haven't invested in many, but I did just pick up Gravity Rush. I know it's on the PS4 but I wanted to check out the original version and see which one I liked better. There's also a few shooters that run well like Killzone, given that you have two sticks makes it not too different from a console. It really depends on what you're into. Unfortunately, there isn't PlayStation TV support for very long so if you want to play any games on TV then you may be out of luck. The graphical power is noteworthy I might add. Of course heavier games such as Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 will suffer from dips, but that is understandable and never game-hindering. Surprisingly, the community of players is still very active on popular titles and linking up is fairly painless. I'm also very much in love with the customizable backgrounds. There's a lot of cool things to play around with if you're into that kinda thing.

It's also a very useful tool outside of gaming. You have direct browser access that runs quite well, calender and email apps, a social app called Near that is actually quite cool if you're in the right place, and storage for phots, videos, and music. I use it for all of these things daily and it works wonders in keeping everything in my daily life together.

The price of the system has gone down dramatically, so that's a reason in itself I would say.

The Vita is one of the most underrated gaming systems out there. I just recently got my Vita and Vita TV a few short months ago and am in love with the set up. I feel that Sony clearly made a few mistakes in dealing with the Vita however. Obscure and expensive memory cards, along with a lack of even AVERAGE promotion killed the system's potential. I love my Nintendo Switch as well, but we've got to be honest.... The Switch is nothing but the Vita and Vita TV, put together in one pretty little package. If Sony would have included the Vita and Vita TV in a combo deal, then potentially things could have been different for such a fabulous system.

Vita's still my #3 backlog out of all of my systems. It's doubtful I'll ever complete it, but I play it almost every week.

Also, memory cards are such a tiny part of the TCO of a game system. Even the system cost itself if you have enough games is a tiny part. My total of current Vita + current memory card is $270, but I've spent many thousands on games for it.

I don't really use my Vita anymore... At first I got it to play Persona 4 Golden, but I have a hard time focusing on portable JRPGs so then it became my dedicated adventure game device. As a fan of otome games, it's nice to see Japanese ADVs get localized onto the platform, but even then I rarely pick it up. I've since passed it on to my younger brother who regularly plays Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and horror games like Corpse Party.

I don't have a Vita but I just realized a few months ago that the Playstation TV is kind of like a Vita. I got the PS TV for free a few years ago when I got my PS4. I've picked up a few games like Hyperdeminsion Neptuna U and SAO and one of the free PS plus games. I wish I would have known sooner that this was a Vita lite.

I just recently got a Vita a while ago and I'm happy with it so far. Haven't purchased any games for it yet but I've already made a list of some of the titles I want for it such as Uncharted Golden Abyss and Persona 4 Golden just to name a couple.
