With the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD being released on Friday, it made think of the first time I played it and how much I loved it. But I would have to say if there was one game that I wish I could re-experience for the first time all over, having no prior memories of playing it, it would have to be Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That game shaped my childhood years.

Which makes me curious if anyone else could re-experience a game for the first time which would it be?

I also wish I could reexperience OOT for the first time. Great game.

Other games that I wish I could re-experience are:
Mario 64
Link to the Past

I remeber vividly on Link to the Past the first time I found the Master Sword when I was a kid. I remember pulling the sword from the stone and jumping up and screaming YES!!! I wish I could get that feeling once again.

Excellent question! The first thing that comes to mind is the night I first played the N64. I purchased my Saturn in December 1996 and my PS1 around October 1997 (don't remember exactly when, but I know I bought Resident Evil: Director's Cut and Formula 1: Championship Edition with it). I was a huge fan of both, but a couple of my friends had an N64 that they raved about. Being the manly teenager that I was, I brushed off the N64 as something for kids and had no interest in it. The ONLY game I was interested in was Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. We scheduled a gaming night and I told them I'd rent Turok to give it a fair shake. And what a great night it was! Turok was amazing at the time, but the real winner was Goldeneye.

The next day, I went to the mall, traded in a bunch of games, spent all of my money (luckily I had a minimum wage job at this time!) and bought an N64 with Turok and Goldeneye.

I've stuck with the big N ever since.

For me there is no doubt at all : Planescape Torment! The story and the characters are so great, new, different, so much life theory and philosophy in this "game". Once you finish it, it's unfortunately not really interesting to replay because the gameplay is pretty story focused, not a lot of different possibilities... I wish I could forget everything about it and replay it from scratch. Maybe Torment:Tides of numenera could be his spiritual successor ?

@moho_00 What an awesome story!! I share an extremely similar style story as well only I was forced to watch my older cousins play the N64 and because I was the youngest was never allowed to play...until I got my own on Christmas of 98'! As with you I've been with Nintendo ever since lol.

For me it would have to be 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors on the DS. If you have yet to experience this game, please do soon! One of my favorite fictional stories ever with a great atmosphere, memorable characters and some genuinely though provoking puzzles. The third game is coming out this summer so be on the lookout for that as well.

I would absolutely love to re-experience Heavy Rain. As much flak as it gets, its a fantastic experience and the first time that you play through it actually is really deep and interesting. I've played through it a few more times already but its never the same as the first time that I played through it.

Being a kid whose first system was a Genesis, I'd love to go back to visiting my cousin's house for a Christmas Party in 1996 and seeing Mario 64 for the first time. Blew my freaking mind.

Then in 1998 when OoT came out my Aunt's boyfriend brought his N64 over for Thanksgiving (I don't know why because I had one at that point) and I saw OoT. Mind again blown.

Earthbound - This is my favorite game of all time and experiencing it for the first time was something magical. I'm actually torn about this because I think one of the things that might have been so awesome about that first experience was being a kid when I played it but... Just having played so many fantasy style games and military games it was so damn fascinating to enter a world more similar to my own. Also, the marketing actually worked on me. I loved that the game was marketed as a game that really stinks!

Everquest - Although I'd rather not relive the entire saga of my existence being consumed by the game, the first couple of days were eye-opening. I was playing a game that was like a single-player game but it was with thousands of other people. Blew my mind.

I'd also say Super Mario World and A Legend of Zelda: The Link to the Past. Both of those were huge staples as a kid and the design really reaches out and grabs you. Of course, I'm merely waxing nostalgia at this point.

Some good mentions already listed. I would add BioShock to the list. The plot twist in that game was so good.

Hope it's okay if I reply to this thread after being cold for a couple months, but I was pondering this question for a bit and wanted to throw in my two cents :'3

Final Fantasy IX: Off the top of my head, this title came to mind first, I don't know why. I've always been one of those FF fans that sided with 9, but I haven't played it in a long time and can still remember how magical it was. Maybe I should play it again with the PC version having been released a short while ago, but I'm always a little wary of re-releases. I don't think they're entirely the same as the originals... Perhaps I should look into digging out my PS1 from my parents' attic back home, lol.

A newer game I wish I could re-experience is The Last of Us. It's a great game but that ending really hits you the first time you play it.

An older game I wish I could re-experience The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening. Again that ending is great but just doesn't have as much impact when you have already seen it.

Ooh, I thought of another one: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. I was a freshman in high school at the time and there just wasn't anything quite like that Tommy Vercetti swag, cruising along pseudo-Miami and takin' shots, makin' bank. I'd love to play it again remastered, or even remade D:
