Few things that popped out at me:
- Doom at 40% off is a good deal for a game that effectively just came out.
- Space Engineers ($8.50 for me here in Canuckistan) I'm debating on this one, though I don't really have anyone to play with, so it'll mainly be for solo play.
- Fallout 4 is 50% off though the season pass is a billion dollars.
- Borderlands 2 GOTY is 75% off if you somehow haven't picked that up by now.

Anything Ubisoft is pretty terrible, deal-wise from what I see so far.

Age of Empires 2: HD Edition
Wolfenstein: The New Order

@dhobo - I agree on Doom, it's very tempting. I didn't understand Space Engineers at all when I tried it on a free weekend, but I love those type of games. It's a shame that Medieval Engineers hasn't been as well-received and isn't even on sale :P

@jwcooley - Oh. My. Goodness. You bought Daikatana and Age of Empires 2!?! I tried playing Daikatana a few months ago when it was a bounty and it was a lot harder than I remember. I actually beat that game shortly after it came out (it plummeted in price almost immediately)! We definitely need to get some Age of Empires 2 action going...

One nice thing about this new sale format being consistent through the sale period, I don't feel pressured to buy anything right now in case the flash deal expires before I pull the trigger, etc...

Now that I've had a good gander at everything, I'll ruminate on those sale prices for a while and see what still interests me when I look again later.

The Sega Megadrive and Genesis Classics packs are 75% off each, or $1.87. There's 5 of them, each has 10 games. And yeah, Genesis games easily downloaded and emulatable, but less than 20 cents a game to legally own them is pretty good.

So you can fill out your virtual shelf in the launcher program they put out a while back.

I just picked up Stardew Valley. While it's not an awesome deal at 20% off, it was enough for me to buy it. I've been wanting to check it out for a while now.

Picked up Hotline Miami 2 for like $3.74 - first one is also pretty cheap. Great games if you haven't played'm.

I played the first HM game and thought it was a blast. I have the best intentions of actually trying 2 out at some point.

I skipped the last few big Steam sales, but this time I decided to splurge a little. I picked up Remember Me, The Talos Principal, The Stanley Parable, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, The Vanishing of Ethan Clark and Stardew Valley.

I have a strict 75% off or more rule when it comes to Steam sales, but I broke that rule for Stardew Valley. I know several people who are playing it and just loving it. Fired it up last night. Santa Claus gave me a farm so I cleaned up my front yard and planted some parsnips. Also caught a fish. THRILL-A-MINUTE!!!!!!!!

A few suggestions....

Layers of Fear

A great "haunted house simulator". Really enjoyed spending time in the mind of a crazy painter. If you like horror it is a solid purchase at $9.99.

Sentinels of the Multiverse

A great card game both solo and multiplayer. I've been playing the physical game for years and the digital game is exactly the same. At 70% off it is a good time to try the game out. If you enjoy it you'll want the season pass. Tons of content in the pass. But I would play the base game first before deciding.

Life is Strange
http://store.steampowered.com/app/319630/
Just buy the whole season at $9.99. Worth every penny if you like adventure games. It will destroy you emotionally, but that is fun right? I'd give anything to forget everything and play through Life is Strange again. Loved it.
