What exactly does a forced cache clear do? I've never run into that before...

@AX3L Simply put, it clears your stored browser data that helps some sites load a bit faster if they keep it local to your system.

@moho_00 I wonder if it wasn't that he was running an older cache from before you updated the feature perhaps? I remember when I ran into some real wonky behaviour on the site when I tried to do something right after you pushed a site update but before I refreshed things.

I see...thanks for clearing that up for me!

Hey, this is great functionality. I wasn't sure if I should use playthroughs but now with these goals I will definitely begin using it.

Definitely make collapsing an option in the setting. Right now my goals aren't that many but who knows... Right now I create 2-4 goals in advance (I don't know what the game is going to throw at me..) but when completed, they stay and the list grows longer... perhaps also add an option to hide completed goals?

You all may have already seen this, but I pushed out a small update to this feature this morning. One of the items is an option to collapse / expand the goals, but right now, they're expanded by default. I kinda think they should be collapsed by default...what do you guys think? I could potentially make this a setting that could be stored per user, but if there's a consensus for one way or another, that would be a lot easier :P

Thanks for the update moho_00! The feature works quite nicely :)

Also, I would prefer them to be collapsed by default. Per user settings would be something I would enjoy for each game, yes.

Another thing I thought I should mention is that yes the goals can now be collapsed, I think it would make a lot more sense to add the option to collapse the playthrough times as well. The main goal in hiding the goals/times is to save space on screen, and right now with goals being hidden and everything else visible it still maintains a "bloated" look.

If you would like me to elaborate, please let me know.

Collapsed probably makes the most sense. Is there a way to have the number that indicates x out of y goals completed update as you enable/disable goals without requiring a page refresh?

Loving this feature so far!

Great update.
Just an idea: when collapsed make the next goal not yet completed visible so you know what the next one is, at list according to your own list sequence.
Also, the order of your playthroughs is now the order in which you have entered them. Would be great if you could order them yourselves.
And when I use playthroughs it often implies that I am actually playing them at some point, so why not add a 'playing' toggle\button on that page?
Lastly, a nice consolidated overview of your playthroughs on your own overviewpage would be really awesome. Right now that page is becoming a bit crowded with info.

Keep up the great work! This is really getting me playing and actually completing stuff :D

My thoughts on the new updates:

  • I'm in love with the progress bar. It's perfect. The visual appeal makes completing a goal feel very rewarding.
  • The collapsible times and and goal sections definitely keep things more together, and the whole page feels a lot "slimmer". Great job!
  • At this point, the only constructive criticism I would be able to offer is that I think it would be a little more appealing to replace the x out of y goals to percentages (x% of goals completed), but I've already mentioned that a few times, and it's more or less me being nit picky. If the community as a whole is satisfied with x out of y completion ratios, then I don't really mind. I just mentioned elsewhere that I feel like personally percentages are a little more motivating to look at.
  • If you were to follow that lead, I think it would be the most visually appealing to have the percentage inside the bar. It might save a little space and look a little sleeker?

I can honestly say the feature has reached a very stable point. I'm happy to see how quickly things were optimized! You're the man @moho_00!

Nice little QoL improvements to make this feel more polished. :)

Looks super good when adding multiple playthroughs now!

One odd thing I encountered was that when I went to add Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to my current playthrough, it did not find any results whatsoever. Searching Metal Gear Solid by itself, however, rendered all of the possible searches and I was able to find the game and add it in. I refreshed with CTRL+F5 as well to see if that made a difference, only to be left with the same result. Not sure if anyone else has run into anything similar before..

Hmm...I think the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain thing is a bug. I think I know what's causing it, but I'll have to dig into the code to know for sure. I'll add it to my list and try to have it fixed for next weekend's release!

@moho_00:

Excellent! I also notice the goals featured in the Feed? This is looking great! The percentages looking amazing as well, just what I had envisioned. Seeing visual progress such as this is my number 1 motivator to complete games! As I mentioned before, I'm very confident that this particular feature could be the main drawn-in to new users.

Your hard work is very much appreciated!

  • Bug Report - Upon glancing on the new percentage feature, I have realized that when you mark a goal complete, the percentage goes from a whole number (for example, 64%) to the exact decimal percentage of the goal ratio (for example, 65.89578494%). When the page is refreshed, it resets to the last whole number percent.

I noticed that wacky percentage last night when I completed a goal :P I'm not sure how I missed it in testing...

It will be fixed with the next release :D

Sounds good! Other than that, no problems on my end.

Because of this awesome feature I'm able to balance 5 current playthroughs at a relatively steady pace and still keep my motivation up to complete them all! I can't wait to see how well this will benefit Missions/Bounties in the long haul.

I would like to make additional suggestions:

  • For the placement of the percentages for the goal's progress bar, I feel like centering the value will make things a little more appealing. For example, it currently looks like this:
    (<-25%---->)
    I was thinking more like this:
    (<---25%--->)

  • Currently, progress for goals is read as follows: x goals completed out of y. How about reiterating this to one of the following? x / y goals completed, goals completed: x out of y, or x out of y goals completed? We could possibly discuss which one we find the most appealing.
