I know we've had some discussions around PlayStation VR (and VR in general), but now that it's out....anyone picking it up?

I have it, and actually shared some thoughts on the GiantBomb forums about my experience thus far.... I'm going to paste that here, rather than retelling how my formative voyage with PSVR went:

I've only played 3 games with PSVR so far: Bound, SUPERHYPERCUBE, and Job Simulator. The first two have worked just fine for me. The only oddity was with Bound. When I played it in 2D mode (basically a 'tv screen' in the headset), the screen kept drifting slowly to the left. Every few minutes I would need to reset the orientation to face where I wanted it. In VR mode I didn't notice any drifting.

Job Simulator is where everything went wrong for me. Right from the main menu I had the issue that GB had of the world jittering while playing. It looked in-game as if I were shivering, but actually was not moving at all. It was slight, but perceptible enough movement to cause the beginnings of motion sickness in me after just two minutes. I promptly turned Job Simulator off.

Soon I'll try about messing with lighting or what have you (was in a relatively dark room, but it could be darker - or lighter?) to see if that helps with Job Simulator. The weird thing to me is that some games are apparently running fine while others have the jittering effect. Well, this was a Move game while the others aren't, so it seems that may also be a factor.

TL;DR - Some games seem to run without issue in VR while others have a tracking problem that is likely to cause motion sickness in some.

I like the idea of VR but I do believe it is like anything else in that it'll need some time to work out the initial kinks while giving developers time to understand how to truly develop for it.

I don't know if I'll buy into the initial release. I may wait for a second iteration (if it makes it to a second iteration) and let the growing pains get worked out first.

If anyone is curious to hear more about the PSVR, as well as the games lineup, I'm here to help! I posted an article today briefly discussing the headset itself, but focus more on the games themselves. After all, a platform is only as good as the games that are on it: http://www.completionator.com/Article/View/13

Hey marcus, you like the creepy stuff. Did you jump into RE7 with PSVR?

How's the PS2 collection and graphic novel stuff coming along? Pixel Pacas still seems to be going strong!

I actually have not thus far, though I did play RE7 in general. The big reason I've not tried it in VR since launch is because of a really icky experience with it at E3. The demo was only about 20 minutes long but it made me feel absolutely awful due to camera movement. I've heard far fewer complaints about this since launch, so presumably Capcom addressed it. Still, I'm not really excited to test the waters with that game again just yet.

PS2: I keep finding myself diverted with Japanese releases. NO my goal is not to have a complete all region collection XD but there are a lot of good exclusives per region. When it comes to visual novels I am still keeping up with all new physical releases. As far as digital is concerned, though, Steam pumps out far too many to keep up on playing. Still fun to try :).

First title I tried to add was for PSVR. Could not be added. Next was an Oculus Quest 2 VR title.

Same thing. Bye bye commpetionator app
