Well this is disappointing...

"Throughout April, NOA territories will receive the last shipments of Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition systems for this year. We encourage anyone interested in obtaining this system to check with retail outlets regarding availability. We understand that it has been difficult for many consumers to find a system, and for that we apologize. We have paid close attention to consumer feedback, and we greatly appreciate the incredible level of consumer interest and support for this product."

I never was able to pick one up, though I wasn't looking very hard. I had just grabbed an actual NES a few months before this came out and figured it was better to have that and buy the games I want rather than get locked in. But as a collector, I'm feeling the pressure knowing the end is near.

And then there's scalpers...

I was really disappointed to hear this news since I was interested in getting one. I wanted one mostly for the novelty aspect of it, so it's not a huge loss that I'll never get one, but still annoying. The scalpers definitely soured this product and I never saw one in stock online or in a store (that wasn't price gouged). As much as I love Nintendo, they do stuff like this all the time. It's pretty obvious to me why they're doing this....virtual console for Switch, anyone?

Well sure, why pay $60usd for a NES mini, when you can buy all those games on the virtual console for $150?

I'm visiting extended family out of town this weekend, and decided to take a look on Brickseek, just for giggles. Found 3 units nearby, sat on it for a few minutes, then decided to head out and see if I could get one. By the time I got there they were sold out, and I'm pretty sure they sold one to the kid in front of me.

Bleh.

I don't need it by any means, but it would've been cool to have...

Yep. Keep that demand for the Switch up at all cost I suppose. If it gets them some third party support I guess I'll take it.

I plan on getting me a Nintendo Switch soon, in the hopes that Nintendo releases Monster Hunter on the system. Regarding the NES Classic, I never felt too compelled to purchase one. I was born during the era of the original PlayStation. I basically grew up playing Street Fighter, Call of Duty, King of Fighters, Medal of Honor and other games revolving around the original PlayStation. Other than that, I would probably just get it to just own it. I do not believe that I would actually play the NES Classic. I don't necessarily have a reason to.

Looks like the SNES Classic is coming soon. I may seek this out if the game selection is good and if there's a good supply this time.

Oh dear, I feel like the only one here who got one and I just have it sitting on my shelf. On the plus side, I don't plan on reselling it... but I really have no use for it either. I doubt it'll ever get played, sadly.

Sorry nobody else managed to get one. They really shouldn't have discontinued it so early.
