We always get to a gaming Olympics and complain about certain games. Post here ideas for games for the Olympics and why you think they are a good idea.

NFL Blitz was great.

Blitz WAS great!!!! I'd like to see tetris make an appearance. I also really liked Blur. I think Japanese Rythm games should be forever banned. Not from just the Olympics but from Earth. :-)

I agree, NFL Blitz was a lot of fun, but hey, so was Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey the previous year! We also did Tetris a couple of years ago and it's always a good selection. I had considered that next year could be a "best of" to commemorate the roughly 15 years we've been doing it. If we do that, here are some early candidates (in no order and not including the ones already mentioned):

  • Rocky
  • Goldeneye 007
  • Pac-Man Vs.
  • Tokimeki Memorial Taisen Puzzle-Dama
  • Super Monkey Ball
  • Point Blank 2
  • Mario Kart (any of them will suffice)
  • Bomberman Online

Any good basketball games? Also, The Serious Sam game was great.

Did we do NBA Jam one Year ? That might be fun. Not sure if that is what you are looking for cooley. If you wanted to stick with the NFL Blitz and Gretzky 3D theme of over the top arcade beat down sports games, we could look for a emulator of "Arch Rivals"

OH, and I don't recall Point Blank 2. What was that ?

Point Blank 2 was the arcade shooter on PS1: http://youtu.be/OwN93ZhER8Q. I think we played it in 2013.

NBA Jam was going to be in the last two Olympics, but has been bumped for Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey and NFL Blitz. All three of those games are great, but Jam just hasn't been able to break through!

I think I have Arch Rivals on one of the Midway Arcade Treasures compilations.

Oh and as a side-note, I've already fixed the annoying bug that's limited forum posts to 3 per page. It will be going out this weekend!

There is NBA Jam, NBA Street...I definitely like the idea of having a basketball game in the mix.

Oh man, College Slam! I remember wanting to get that game so bad back in the day and I finally saved up my money and bought it on the Genesis. In hindsight, it's such a crap game, but I loved it back then! I have it on Saturn now, but to be honest, I'm not sure I've ever loaded it up. If I remember correctly, the CD versions of the game had the fight songs or something.

Also, I think March Madness 2000 was in one of the first Gaming Olympics we had.

trying to get back in the habit of checking in daily rather than monthly. I play more games when it gets cold out so I think this stuff has just been more on my mind recently. :-)

I've got some good ideas for the next one, if we don't go with a "best of" lineup :D

I like all of those. My least favorite of the five is probably Tetrisphere.

OK, What the hell was even happening on collider ? I felt like you were trying to hypnotize me. It looked like what I see when I have way too much to drink and then I lay down and close my eyes. Root Beer tapper looked simple and fun. People will complain about Popoitto Hebereke, but I actually don't mind one game of that style in the mix as long as it isn't Dr. Mario related ;-) . I have never played tetrisphere. Have we ever played Tetris in the Olympics before ? Jordan v. Bird is a great idea. I think along the 8 bit sports genre, I think this would be a good addition.

It was the first game that I can ever remember talking to me :-)
