I've pushed out a new update this morning and it should be accessible by clicking on the Playlist item under the Playthroughs menu. This is an enhanced version of the playlist section on the Profile page. I've been building on this for a few months now while Patreon backers have provided some feedback (thanks!) and it should be pretty stable at this point.

If you've never used the playlist before, the idea is that you can organize the games you want to play soon. This isn't necessarily your entire backlog, but for those with very large backlogs, this can be a more manageable way to keep a handle on what you want to play soon-ish. The new page was designed to provide a more visual and interactive UI compared to the existing Profile section.

There haven't been any changes to the playlist section on the Profile page, but I do plan to make some at a later date. Specifically, I think I'm going to rebrand it to an "Upcoming Playlist" section and limit it to maybe the next 10 or so games on your playlist. The new UI makes it MUCH easier to add new games and some of us have already created very large playlists and it can cause the Profile page to get a little...wonky.

Anyways, using the new page is pretty straightforward, but here's the gist of what you can do:

  • There's an Add button in the top-right corner. Just click that, search for a game and fill out the extra info and that's it.
  • Once you have some games on your playlist, you can drag 'n drop them however you want. Each "card" has a number at the bottom that will tell you what position its in.
  • The filter at the top can be toggled on / off and let you highlight matching games. If you're looking for a short, good, and easy Sega Genesis game, these can help you out...assuming it's on your playlist As a side-note, don't forget to fill out a rating, difficulty, and completion time when you finish a game so you can help out others!
  • If you need to edit or remove an item, you can do so with the icons in the bottom-right corner of each card.

These notes aren't for the new page, but they're playlist-related:

  • If you use playthroughs and finish one, there's a checkbox that will allow you to remove the corresponding game from your playlist. This has been available for a while now and you may have seen it already.
  • Another thing that's been available for a while is an "Add to Playlist" option when you're looking at a list on the Browse by Platform page.

And that's about it. I hope this will prove to be a useful tool for the community and help everyone complete even more games!
