@boff097 From the tiny text at the bottom of the xbox Canada page for games with gold (pretty sure the US is similar):
For paid Gold members only; Active Gold membership required to play downloaded Xbox One games.

Maybe it's different for the 360 games? Not an xbox owner myself, so I couldn't tell you.

@moho_00 Adding some of the bundle sites makes some sense. Seeing as some of them do actually provide DRM-free links for game downloads (ie: Humble Bundle.) My only issue is that I compare a lot of the bundle sites to places like greenmangaming, or getgamesgo. They aren't really providing you with games, only selling you keys for Steam/Desura/etc... at which point, I would argue you would probably want to list those games as Steam/Desura/etc... instead since that's where you actually download the game from.

Could be I'm way out in left field on that viewpoint though.

edit: Also, I'm not really sure what my preference would be regarding ps+/gold. My original plan was to add my ps+ games as digital-PSN and then make a list for the ones that were only available through subscription as opposed to ones I've bought.

I think you have a good point in comparing the bundle sites with GMG, Get Games, etc. In fact, one could argue that GOG is closer to GMG than it is Steam or Origin. I would also agree that if you purchase a key for Steam / Desura / whatever, you're probably going to list it with one of those instead. So perhaps we start by adding the various bundle sites since they generally provide DRM-free copies and see where that gets us?

@dhobo Huh, that's funny. On both the pages http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/games/games-with-gold and http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/games/games-with-gold there is this statement:

"Do I get to keep the games?

Yes, once you download the games, they are yours to keep."

Not sure why it would be different in Canada... and I had always heard that's why GWG had less games than PS+, because you got to keep them even if your Gold membership lapsed...

@boffo97 Looked into it further, seems like the 360 service gives games to keep, whereas the x1 version is basically just like ps+ with an active subscription required to use the games. Program has the same name, but a different policy on each console. Guess the blurb I read on the Canadian page was specifically for the x1.

About the bundle sites; some only give out keys for Desura or Steam, some also have their own download links. Some have all. The thing is what you want to record? If you buy a Greenlight bundle from Groupees, you only have a download @ groupees. At some time a Steam key gets added. You activate it and it gets imported as a Steam entry. It is the same game but you have two locations where you can get it. Logically I like to merge the 2 into 1 but my viewpoint would be then the actual purchase and not the game itself.

Best indeed to start simple and see where it leads.

@dhobo - So you remember that bug you found a while ago where tags wouldn't update properly? Well, I stumbled upon it the other day while tagging my collection and was able to recreate it 100% of the time. I just added a fix for it, but it will have to wait until next weekend since I'm in the middle of the Giant Bomb import. I just wanted to finally put that issue to rest :)

Oh nice! I figured it was just something on my end, like maybe having an out of date build for the site cached or something since I hadn't restarted chrome, or my computer for that matter, for days when I started having that weird error.

Glad to hear you squashed that one.
