Super Mario World

Completed: January 7 / Platform: Nintendo Switch / Rating: 4/5
This game has very charming visuals, fun level design, and tight controls. Even though it breaks a lot of the levels, gliding with the cape is extremely fun. Some of the secret exits are quite tough, and I did use a guide for them. Still, this game did a lot to improve on the NES entries of this series.

Super Metroid

Completed: January 12 / Platform: Nintendo Switch / Rating: 4/5
Another Super Nintendo classic, Super Metroid really does live up to its legacy. Considering its age, the world is very tightly designed, and it surprised me how free and open a lot of the exploration is. The game is praised for its tight controls, which is partially true, but there are sections that have aged poorly (I find the quicksand to be insufferable, the grappling is pretty bad, and the space jump feels unreliable).

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Completed: January 25 / Platform: Nintendo Switch / Rating: 4/5
A third Super Nintendo classic, this was actually my first time playing this game. I enjoyed it slightly less than the others, but I can certainly appreciate how high quality this game is. I do find some of the combat encounters to be a little clunky and aged, but this game nailed the visuals, audio and sense of adventure.
